Unica Iron and Steel Pty Ltd started in 2006 and has a staff contingent of approximately 300 operating from a 36000m² facility where commercial quality light structural sections are manufactured (mild steel flat bar, square bar and angle iron).

The Fully integrated mini steel plant is a first of its kind in South Africa, with the concept originating from China and India. It is a scrap based steel plant with scrap metal being melted in induction furnaces and made into ingots. These ingots are then reheated and rolled into the following light structural sections:

• Mild steel square bar
• Mild steel flat bar
• Mild steel angle iron

All products are manufactured to SANS 1431 250 WA, a Mild Steel Commercial Grade. Other grades are available on request.”
